Understanding the Legal Process
Our Process Services ensure legal documents are served efficiently and in compliance with all legal standards.
- Document Preparation: We review and prepare your documents to meet all legal requirements.
- Recipient Identification: Our team accurately identifies and locates the recipient for proper service.
- Service Delivery: Experienced process servers deliver documents in strict accordance with legal protocols.
- Proof of Service: A notarized Affidavit of Service is provided, documenting the date, time, and method of service. This affidavit is court admissible as proof of service.
What Sets CPA Apart
CPA International Investigations Inc. distinguishes itself in the document services industry through several key advantages. Firstly, most of our services are handled by licensed investigators, enabling us to legally remain on-site for extended periods to ensure a successful service, even if it requires waiting for the recipient to return.
Secondly, we recognize that a standard 9 am to 5 pm window is often insufficient for serving individuals, so we extend our service hours from 6 am to 9 pm to maximize our chances of completing the serve. Lastly, with over 35 years of industry experience, CPA has built a vast network of colleagues who assist us in providing efficient service across Canada, the USA, and other countries. These factors collectively ensure that CPA delivers superior and reliable document services, setting us apart from the competition.
On-Site Commissioner for Taking Affidavits
At CPA International Investigations Inc., we further enhance our process services with our on-site Commissioner for Taking Affidavits. This valuable resource allows us to expedite the affidavit process, providing our clients with timely and convenient access to notarization and certification services. By having a Commissioner on-site, we eliminate the need for our clients to seek external notarization services, streamlining the process and ensuring that all documents are admissible in court.

Our Process Serving Services
We ensure your legal documents are served efficiently, accurately, and in strict compliance with all local, national, and international rules of court. Headquartered in British Columbia, we seamlessly manage service across BC, all Canadian provinces, and globally.
Here is how our four-step process works to protect your legal interests:
1. Document Review & Compliance Check
What we do: You provide us with your legal documents (such as Notices of Family Claim, Supreme Court Writs, or Subpoenas), and our team conducts a thorough compliance review.
How it works: We cross-reference your documents against specific jurisdictional requirements—whether following the BC Supreme Court Civil Rules or the distinct regulations of another province or country—ensuring they meet strict court standards before delivery begins.
2. Recipient Locating & International Skip Tracing
What we do: We accurately identify and locate the individual or corporate entity to be served, no matter where they are.
How it works: For straightforward cases, we dispatch servers directly to the provided address. If the recipient is evasive or has relocated outside of BC, we utilize extensive Canadian and international public databases, corporate registries, and skip tracing techniques to track down their current whereabouts.
3. Jurisdictional-Strict Service Delivery
What we do: Experienced process servers deliver your documents in accordance with the specific laws of the jurisdiction where the recipient is located.
How it works: Laws vary wildly by region. We ensure your documents are served correctly, whether that requires standard Personal Service in Vancouver, navigating out-of-province rules in Ontario, or managing formal Hague Convention service protocols for international recipients. If a recipient is intentionally avoiding service, we carefully document our attempts to support your application for an Order for Substituted Service.
4. Affidavit of Service & Court Filing
What we do: We provide you with a legally binding Affidavit of Service customized to the formatting rules of your originating court.
How it works: Once service is complete, we generate an official affidavit detailing the exact date, time, location, and method of delivery. This document is sworn or affirmed before a Commissioner for Taking Affidavits in British Columbia (or the local equivalent for out-of-province serves), providing bulletproof evidence for the court. If your case is in BC, we can also handle the formal filing of this proof directly with the court registry.
